I heard someone who is in their early 30s say this. It really bothered me. Good heavens, if you’re too old when you’re 32, what will you be when you’re 60? You’ll be a fossil. You better watch out-one day Exxon might try to sneak up behind you and make gasoline out of you.
Often times, I wonder if the “too old” statement is merely an excuse. Sometimes the path ahead seems arduous, and we might think that we’re too set in our ways to make some new habit or end a bad one. But that’s the call of the Christian life. No matter how old, to begin again and start anew.
Go to the Sacrament of Confession before Easter. By letting go of a little bit of ourselves, we can rise up anew with Christ. You won’t regret it.
